Alan Bleasedale is a great writer.
GBH was hilariously brilliant as well.

Rtaher than show all those classics Nagel mentioned below on bbc4 I'd be in favour of them being on prime time bbc1.
And ditch EastEnders & all the dancing & cooking shit to make way.
Would save millions & raise the TONE immeasurably

Seem to recall it was Souness and also Sammy Lee. Yosser saying to Souness "You look like me".

Very good stuff, very funny but tragically hard hitting.

The dialogue from Yosser's confessional.

I'm desperate Father.
Call me Dan
I'm desperate. Dan.

Brilliant.

Alfs, maybe you're thinking of Scully, another Scouse drama by Alan Bleasdale, which Dalglish was in quite a bit of.

"I recall Daglish turning up in one episode."

You sure you don't mean Graeme Souness? The joke was that he and Yosser looked the same with the tache.

Re: The Boys From The Blackstuff
BBC4 are going to be showing a lot of classic drama on Wednesday nights, including The SInging Detective, Our friends in the north and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.

Apparently this is part of BBC4's new remit of becoming an archive channel. About the only thing the BBC's good for.

Loved it. Great cast, great writing, great everything. I recall Daglish turning up in one episode.

There's a lot of hatred towards Scousers on WHO, but they've produced incredible talent. Musicians, actors, poets, writers, and the odd footballer or two.

In my top 3 of things I’ve ever watched on the tv. About the only thing I can remember virtually.scene to scene. It was/is absolutely brilliant.

Same time as the BBC used to put some good stuff on Play for today as well.

What a shadow of itself it’s become.
